Aryam Vázquez is the Global Emerging Markets Economist for the Wells Fargo International Group. Based in New York, Mr. Vázquez conducts in-depth economic, political and financial market analysis on the principal emerging markets and assessing and managing country risk conditions across the global emerging markets. Mr. Vázquez’s work supports numerous entities within the bank, and thus serves as the principal spokesman on matters related to emerging markets economics. He has held this position since 2008.
Before joining Wells Fargo, Mr. Vázquez directed all global emerging market economic and financial market research at Informa Global Markets; writing and advising on macroeconomic trends, political developments and trading ideas across Asia, CEEMEA and Latin America. Mr. Vázquez began his career with Weston Financial Services in 1995 as an emerging markets economic analyst. He later joined Dexia, serving as a sovereign risk analyst responsible for number of credits in Asia, CEEMEA and Latin America. In 2000, Mr. Vázquez joined IDEA Global, a leading global economic research and advisory firm, as Latin American Economist, covering a host of credits in the region, in support of trading execution across the local and external markets.
Mr. Vázquez was born in Havana, Cuba, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1980. He holds a B.A. in international economics from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Penn., and an M.A. in economics and international affairs from Columbia University.
He is a frequent contributor to Bloomberg News, REUTERS, CNBC, BBC and CNNfn, as well as a number of prominent newspapers in the U.S. and throughout the world.
