Barry Eccleston was appointed president in August 2005. In this position, he oversees all efforts of Airbus in North America and Canada, including sales and marketing, engineering, service and training.
Eccleston came to Airbus from Honeywell’s Engines, Systems and Services division, where he served as VP & General Manager of the Propulsion Systems Enterprise. Prior to that, Eccleston served as Honeywell’s VP of Commercial Aerospace for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Before Honeywell, he spent four years at Fairchild Dornier Corporation.
Eccleston’s career in aviation began at Rolls-Royce where he started as a flight test engineer. He held increasingly senior positions with the company for 29 years, including President and CEO Rolls-Royce Ind Canada, and culminating in his role as President & CEO of International Aero Engines.
He is a private pilot, served as Chairman of the Washington, D.C. branch of the Royal Aeronautical Society, and is a past member of the Flight Safety Foundation Board of Governors. He is on the Board of the Wings Club and a member of the British-American Business Association Board of Directors.
