Dale Mathias has been directly involved for twenty years in strategic planning, capital raising, and investing for a range of global entities. She is currently an active venture investor in the U.S. and sub-Saharan Africa. For the last ten years her business activities have been primarily focused on frontier markets.
On a "pro bono" basis, she has played a leading role in designing innovative private investment initiatives in conjunction with the U.S. Government’s development agency, USAID, including “Power Africa,” an Obama Administration Presidential Initiative established to dramatically increase accessibility of power on the continent. She was instrumental in the raising of $18 billion from private sector partners for this effort. She also serves as Chair of USAID’s outside board of leading investors and business professionals.
Ms. Mathias began her career in finance at J.P. Morgan, served as assistant to the chairman at Alan Patricof and Associates (now APAX Partners). Following that, was vice president of two Lazard Frères - affiliated private equity funds. She has been an Associate Dean for External Relations at Columbia Business School, is a graduate of Harvard University, and a member of the Council of Foreign Relations.
