Gilberto Caldart is president, Latin America and Caribbean region. In this role, Mr. Caldart oversees MasterCard business operations across its three sub-regions: Geo North (Mexico and Central America), GeoCentral (Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Caribbean) and GeoSouth (Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia).
Prior to this role, Mr. Caldart was division president for the southern region of Latin America (GeoSouth), which includes responsibility for Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia. In this position, he led MasterCard business initiatives executing against MasterCard’s Customer Focused Strategy, looking for market opportunities and managing a multifunctional team focused on increasing MasterCard profitability and growth in the region.
Prior to joining MasterCard, Mr. Caldart was country business manager for Citi Brazil, overseeing the Retail Bank, Consumer Finance and Cards business. He spent 26 years with Citigroup in various positions in Brazil and New York. As a board member of Credicard and Redecard (acquiring) businesses, he participated in the restructuring of Credicard Group in Brazil. And, as a board member of Redecard, he participated in the company’s IPO. From 1999 to 2002, he worked in New York with Citi Cards in U.S. Retail Banking.
Mr. Caldart is a board member at ABECS, the Brazilian Credit Card Association, and a member of the Business Affairs Committee at American Chamber of Commerce. He has earned university degrees in Business Administration and Accounting, including a Master in Business Administration from Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business.
