Stephanie Neely is a native Chicagoan with deep ties to the City and a strong commitment to its civic and financial well-being. A former Vice President at Northern Trust Global Investments, Neely brought more than 20 years of financial experience to the Chicago Treasurer’s Office. She has served as Treasurer for the City of Chicago since December 2006, was re-elected to a second term in February 2011 and sworn in May 16, 2011. As the City’s banker, Treasurer Neely manages an $8 billion portfolio and tracks the balances on all City accounts. During her time as Treasurer, she has streamlined the office making it more efficient and successful by reinventing its programs and achieving double-digit returns on pension fund investments. Her innovative economic development programs include the Small Business Development Fund Loan Program, BankOn Chicago, a financial literacy program in Chicago Public Schools that has reached over 240,000 students, and free seminars on “How to Start a Small Business” and “How to use Social Media to Build a Small Business.”
